I know I’ve talked about this before and I just can’t stop gushing over all of my friends. Last time I spoke about this, I told you guys about my friend Erika. She showed me how to see all of the things I want in life are within reach, and that I should never stop dreaming. This got me thinking about how many other incredible women I have in my life and all of the special things they have shown me.
What I’m trying to say is that I am a Glinda with so many Elphbas!
So without further ado, Let me tell you about my best friend in the whole wide world, Nikki!

I have been through a lot of “best friends” in my life, because I have mistaken friendships for more than they were, or I trusted blindly. But things with Nikki happened so differently.
When I started college three years ago, I did not even know who Nicole Shine was, let alone that she even existed! It wasn’t until the end of my first semester when I auditioned for the schools new Acapella group (which she started and was president of for its two years!) As a general member of the club we worked in a friendly manner, even though there were people around me who blurred my opinion of her. I so poorly allowed people to tell me things that weren’t true and I am forever apologetic that I didn’t see her open-mindedly before. When I became a member of the E-board, my whole world changed.
Those people who were not so kind slipped away from my life, and I was given a new opportunity to connect with Nikki. Back home we live just 20 minutes away, and this summer we didn’t take that for granted.
At least once a week we met up for food, adventures, and more food! Our friendship was put to its truest test when we decided to go hiking one day in the blue hills reservation. We got lost on this travel and ended up 8 MILES from the start of the reservation. We walked for four hours and finally made it back to the car safely. It was a tough day but I wouldn’t have wanted to share it with anybody else.
Nikki has had my back since we become best friends on March 20th and she will be my best friend until one of us kicks the bucket. When I got my heartbroken this past month, she cried too. When I got mad at someone, she did too. She supports me in a way no body else can. She pushed me to be exceptional and she will never let me fall.
SO Nik-Nak, here’s to you! One day you will make an incredible teacher and change the lives of many, you will be a beautiful bride to an adoring husband (and if he hurts you I’ll kick his ass), you will be the mother to the most precious children (I can’t wait to be a god mother!). You are intelligent, inspiring, resilient, unbreakable, fearless, kind, and extraordinary. And if you ever forget that, I will be here every day for the ret of your life to remind you just how priceless you are. I love you, you turd.
ALL EVERYTHING,
Ashley
